Become an ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer

Learn to lead the implementation of an information security management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001:2022 – from initial planning to the certification audit. Combitech delivers the training as an authorized PECB partner with a certified PECB trainer, and the course concludes with the PECB certification exam.

Course description

Threats to organizations’ information are constantly growing, and customers, legislators and other stakeholders are placing increasingly stringent demands on how information is protected. This course gives you both the knowledge and practical skills to implement, maintain and continually improve an ISMS in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001, using PECB’s IMS2 methodology and other proven approaches.

The course is led by a certified PECB trainer from Combitech, using PECB’s official course material and examples from Combitech’s information security and compliance assignments. You will work through exercises, case studies and scenario-based quizzes – focusing not only on what the standard requires, but on how to put it into practice.

Course content

  • Day 1: Introduction to ISO/IEC 27001 and initiation of ISMS implementation
  • Day 2: Planning the implementation – leadership, risk management and the Statement of Applicability (SoA)
  • Day 3: ISMS implementation – security controls, documentation, competence and security operations
  • Day 4: Monitoring, continual improvement and preparation for the certification audit
  • Day 5: Certification exam (3 hours)

Course objectives

After completing the course, you will be able to interpret the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001 from an implementation perspective, initiate and plan an ISMS implementation, support the organization in operating and improving its ISMS, and prepare it for third-party certification.

Target audience

Managers, project managers, consultants and advisers involved in or responsible for implementing and maintaining an ISMS, as well as ISMS team members.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites. Basic familiarity with ISO/IEC 27001, for example from our Foundation course, is an advantage.

Certification

The certification exam is an open-book exam with stand-alone and scenario-based multiple-choice questions. After passing the exam, you may, depending on your experience, apply for one of the following credentials: PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Provisional Implementer, PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Implementer, PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer or PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Implementer. The higher levels also require professional experience and experience of ISMS projects.

You will receive a course completion certificate worth 31 CPD credits. If you fail the exam, you may retake it free of charge within 12 months.

  • This is a five-day course, including the certification exam. Course material comprising over 450 pages is included.

  • The course is delivered online. Course material and the exam are in English. Instruction is in Swedish or English.

Cancellation policy

Your booking is confirmed once we have received your invoicing details. The course invoice is sent 30 days before the course starts. For cancellations made less than 30 days before the course starts, 50% of the course fee will be credited. For cancellations made less than two weeks before the course starts, no credit will be issued.
