Excellent results with sms ticket!
The business relationship between Combitech and Skånetrafiken goes back a few years now. Prior to the latest project with local transport tickets on mobile phones, they jointly developed an information service for mobile phones called the Journey Planner.
The ticket system for mobile phones is not based on the usual SMS solution but on a so-called Java application. The image is sent from a central server at Skånetrafiken who also, at irregular intervals, change the image composition to prevent counterfeiting. The server also handles registration and transfers payment requests to the telecom operator.
The SMS system was tested in Kristianstad in the winter of 2009, with good results. In the spring, the system was also tested in other major towns in Skåne such as Malmö, Lund, Helsingborg and Landskrona.
“It was natural for us at Skånetrafiken to return to Combitech for help with the new ticketing system,” says Anders Vårmy. Through integrated project management, Anders himself managed the broad elements on the client's behalf and was able to immerse himself in important and interesting details, while Combitech consultants were responsible for managing the technical side of the project.
“We have enjoyed an unusually close and integrated way of working on this project, and it has felt natural,” says Vårmy, “not least geographically. All we have had to do is trot over to Combitech on the other side of the Central Station here in Hässleholm.”
